FAQ

Are there different types of denture relines?

There are different materials that can be used in a denture reline. Upon consultation and intraoral examination, the proper denture reline material will be determined that will allow the best success for the patient.

What is a denture reline, and why might I need one?

A denture reline is a dental procedure that reshapes the inside of a denture/partial denture to improve its fit and comfort. As the body ages, the shape of the mouth changes. Just like you could use the same pair of shoes and replace the insoles, you are using your dentures/partial dentures everyday. Keeping them fitting properly will decrease sore spots, excessive amounts of glue, breakage and long lasting damage to the underlying oral bone from ill fitting oral prosthetics.

How often should I get a denture reline, and what are the signs that it s time for one?

Laboratory relines should be done by a denture professional every 2-3 years. If laboratory relines are not done on this regular schedule then denture breaking and fractures will occur. Along with the increase in denture adhesive to make up for the changing body over time.
